til tonight do us part

I was starting to feel like my favorite band has betrayed me, for not making any announcements, for not mentioning their band's previous achievements and for not talking about their songs and the year 2006. I was losing hope. But then, six months ago, Fall Out Boy decided to come back and save rock and roll. I was in complete and utter shock because it was all of a sudden. Well I was kind of expecting it to happen, since a lot of people from the music industry are giving off hints on twitter and other social networking sites that Fall Out Boy are coming back and are planning to have a reunion. But there are still doubts like, "Hey, this is just a hoax." I wasn't too lax on the idea of them coming back, unless the band announced it themselves.

On the night of February 3, 2013, I was on twitter and people are starting to panic: typing on caps lock, tLAKing lieK THiss!!, and the words "fall out boy" can be seen in every tweet. I started to join the commotion as well because my feelings... can't. I read somewhere that "Fall Out Boy are making a big announcement on Q87.7 tomorrow morning!"And that's it. I started screaming and jumping and crying AND EVERYTHING FELT SO RIGHT. Everything was in place, and it felt so good to be alive. The big announcement came and then came the new single. February 4, 2013. They are officially back and no one can stop them. I still remember this post I made from February. Four years worth of waiting, those nights spent on listening to Chicago Is So Two Years Ago and feeling nostalgic. I can definitely say that it was all so worth it.

Fast-forward to August. This is it, I thought. I'm going to see them live for the first time and I still can't believe it. And so the show began and my ten-year old self is screaming with delight and it's 2007 all over again. I remember the first time I saw them, in a magazine, confused of their identities, and why this certain guy is wearing eyeliner. Thriller's beat brought it all back and I can feel the pulse of the crowd. We were all singing and it felt glorious.

I don't want to bore you with a long post of how I spent my Thursday night with the anti-heroes, and the band who stand up for the weirdoes. But I can definitely say that if I were to be asked about the people I look up to, Fall Out Boy will be on top of the list. Their performance is not just something we have to rate or whatsoever, it's something we have to remember. You were with the crowd, your lungs are giving out because of singing, the pulsing of the lights, the glorious feeling you get--that's something you have to keep. Fall Out Boy made it all happen. From the long wait in line to the spiels and the screaming roar of agreement of the crowd. Fall Out Boy was, as Fiel mentioned it on her blog, so raw and magnetic. I can't even put to words how amazing they are and I'm running out of adjectives. And nouns. Whatever.

Thank you, Fall Out Boy, for not letting us down and for making us feel contagious.

AAAHHH

SO THIS JUST HAPPENED AND I STILL DON'T KNOW WHAT TO FEEL. Well the first time I knew I was on twitter and everyone was like "okay time to save for August" and I was like, okay, what's going on? And I swear to God I felt something weird and then boom I saw this on facebook and screamed for 75 years. I don't really know how to explain what happened next but I was crying--like legit crying and sobbing and heaving. Okay judge me but I've been waiting for this to happen and I can't believe that's it's finally going to happen in three months. Three months might be a long time for others but seriously, I think I'm running out of time. Three months is an awfully short time because hello what happened to 2013, we're almost halfway done with this year and I'm just here???

Okay so enough of this now. I would like to thank that 11:11 wish the other night before the announcement. I wished for "fall out boy". I wasn't even wishing for something like "fall out boy live Manila!" just plain "fall out boy" and aaaaaahh this happened. Okay I probably don't make any sense at all but I'm really happy! After 4879327493 years of waiting they're back huhu. See you all there!

Anyway, Vampire Weekend has a new album! Modern Vampires of the City was released last May 6th, 2013, Monday. It is said that the "record's main themes are love and mortality and the lyrics contain darker literary allusions."

Like I said in one of my previous blog posts, I love Vampire Weekend. I can't wait to have this on my iPod and listen to it 25/8.

It's a great year for music, yeah?

We don't know when to quit

We bought this yesterday and I was beyond excited to read it. But then we got home and everything changed. "905 questions", it read. NINE HUNDRED FIVE QUESTIONS. How do you expect me to finish this reviewer? How do you even expect me to solve all the Math Problems? But I'm not quitting because Fall Out Boy said so. HEHEHEHE.

Anyway!!! Fall Out Boy's new music video just came out!!! Please watch it in HD, it's very... beautiful....
30 Seconds To Mars also has something new for us. Huhuhu it really is a good time for music.I watched this video in HD and waah I loved it very much. Dita Von Teese is featured in this video (so. PRETTY. UGH). I don't know about you but this band is great, okay. Plus the fact that their music videos are bursting with quality! God bless this band.

Well, this happened and agh why am I not in California. Seriously, that place has it ALL. Coachella, cool places, the beach, fresh lemonades, palm trees everywhere and ugh COACHELLA!!! WHY WHY WHY. Imagine Paul McCartney, Phoenix, Vampire Weekend (cries), Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Hall & Oates and Young The Giant AND ALL THE GREAT ARTISTS. IN ONE. MUSIC. FEST. It's one of my life goals to go to a music fest like this, okay :-(

By the way, the third book of the Divergent trilogy has been revealed! Veronica Roth herself announced it the other day (I think...)! Allegiant will be out on October 22, 2013 and I am beyond stoked!
Now if you're wondering why this man is up here.... Well I want Freddie Stroma to play Four/Tobias Eaton huhu. I know they're already filming Divergent but I just can't help imagining him to be Tobias!!! Because God, he looks so Dauntless. His eyes are screaming the word Abnegation but he looks so Dauntless in every way!!! And he is very attractive.... oh my god. If the casting gods cast him as Tobias Eaton, I will be forever thankful.

Today is Monday and I woke very early. Happy Monday, everyone!

I really love summer music so...

One of the few things I love about summer is the music. Especially when it's all dance-y and electronic and full of life hihi. Also when it's very loud!!! I don't know but that's how I feel about music every summer, it feels so... free and liberated. I hope you get meeeeee.

Anyway, here is my summer playlist (naks). I've been listening to these songs quite a lot. You'll know what I mean if you gave them a listen.

This is definitely my favorite. Well one of my favorites. It's like God collaborated with them while making this music. It's great and it sounds so chill and ahh. Life is good.

Drive around late at night. Listen to this song. On a high volume. Roll down your windows. You are welcome.

Self-explanatory. I love Vampire Weekend as much as I love breathing.

This band is so underrated and I swear to God, they are GOOD! I think they deserve more media attention?

If you were at Coachella last 14th, then I hate you. Joking. Ugh consider yourself lucky and blessed because Two Door Cinema Club was there along with The XX. I watched Coachella, too, you know. In my computer screen. Ha-ha-ha.

This song is so sweet I want to jump off a building. Also because it has a lot of feeling in it. Marriage equality should be legalized EVERYWHERE. And yes, congrats to New Zealand for they are now an equal country. They should've played this song the other day haha. But yes I really love this song. Love is patient; Love is kind.

The Maine and This Century finally released their new singles!!! I'm so happy because they were released on the same day!!! These bands never fail to disappoint aaahhh.

SO THIS ACTUALLY HAPPENED. I KNOW RIGHT. ALL MY FAVORITE PEOPLE IN ONE VIDEO. LET THE YELLING COMMENCE. Okay so this is very unexpected. Just look at Dan and Phil, trying to contain themselves from fangirling!!! These boys are big fans of Fall Out Boy. I mean, look at Dan, he professed his love for their music. Jesus, just watch the video! IT WAS VERY FUNNY. Just imagine them interviewing Muse HAHAHA.

(I can't help but notice Dan's height. He's taller than everybody.)

Well this is me professing my love for these bands and two youtubers. No big deal.

Just One Yesterday

Okay so Fall Out Boy leaked (yes) their own album!!! I did not see THAT coming since the album will be out in  a few days. Seriously? I don't know maybe they're just really excited for the fans to hear it. I heard it already BUT, I stopped. I couldn't do it because 1) I pre-ordered the album; 2) It feels like cheating, if you know what I mean...; 3) ALL OF THE ABOVE. But being the obsessive-compulsive fan that I am, I listened to 6 songs. As of now my favorite is Just One Yesterday, Young Volcanoes, Alone Together and of course Save Rock and Roll. Props to Sir Elton John! (Two days before the official release of the album, HALLELUJAH!)

Also, I read 7 books last week. Wow I have no life. Anyway, here they are:
  • Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan
  • The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
  • I Conquer Britain by Dyan Sheldon
  • Zombicorn by John Green
  • The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith
  • The Lover's Dictionary by David Levithan
  • The Realm of Possibility by David Levitahn
I went swimming with my second year classmates yesterday and I had lots of fun! Really. Even though I bumped my head on the slide real hard. (It really hurts okay, I almost cried.) It was gret because I finally get to swim and and be a mermaid aww. Also because I hung out with my friends hehe.

I'm thankful for things like this.

Summer 2013

What's a teenager's blog without a post about summer? Haha, joking. Anyway, it's already summer! I've had a lot in my mind when classes were still going on. I mean I had a lot of plans and I actually made a list of what I'm planning to do this summer (I lost it somewhere in the classroom, though). Like playing the piano (I kind of stopped), read more and more books (I read 4 books last January and I am hungry for MORE), letting my ~letting my artistic skills soar through the skies~ and lots and lots of working out. Seriously, I don't know how to manage it all in just a matter of three months but I think I can handle it. Who am I kidding? It's summer! I can do anything. (Feeling wild and free HAHAHA).

One of the things I'm looking forward to are going out and discovering new things. I've been dying to visit The Collective in Makati for ages now and I know nothing about that place. I guess that's what makes it so "new" to me. I heard that it's a very good and ideal place for art, music and pop-culture lovers. I've never been to that place and ugh, the feelings I get whenever I think about visiting the place!

Heck, I even searched Google Maps for directions from Rockwell. (If you're asking why, well my dad and I always hang around Rockwell. And no, we don't live there. We are not rich people. We are peasants, only a bit richer hahaha, joke.)

One word: AAAAHHHH. You see? THIS is the reason why The Collective is a blessed place.  I was smitten when I saw this because it's not everyday you find a compound surrounded by  these doodles. It feels like home aww. How I wish I could create something like that in real life~

Also this one AAAAHHH!!!! I literally rolled on the floor and scrunched up my face when I saw this. It looks so alive and fresh from the creator's mind huhuhu so beautiful. I really can't wait to see it in person and cry in awe while I dramatically touch the wall~~

If you're a big fan of vintage things like vinyls and old books and the smell of it, then Cubao Expo--or Cubao X for some--is the place for you. From fifty-peso vinyls, to great bargains of books and toys, Cubao X is home to some of the greatest finds in Manila. Abandoned toys, books, antique materials can be found in this place. (Look, I did a research in Google Maps for directions, too!) I may or may not have heard my relatives who live in the North talk about Cubao X and the stores. Well I hope they bring me there hehe.

I know inside every on of us is a very nostalgic human being who wants to engulf himself in the past. UVLA is always there to cater your needs if you're feeling old and... indie hehehhe.

Another set of AAAHHHs for this store. Too bad I forgot the name of this shop but I'm pretty sure they sell slippers/footwear. Look at that lovely art piece, I could just tear up while staring at it huhu.

Heima also has a branch in Cubao X! Heima is a furniture store, selling modern-style things. They're known for being cute and Victorian-ish, with most of their products being all pastel-colored. I'm looking forward to visiting this place hehe.

Aside from going to the mall, of course I want to my summer to be filled with new and foreign discoveries. I don't want it to be dull and boring. This is why this post was produced. I was supposed to attend this Art Workshop in Ayala Museum but then we backed out because it was very expensive and the means of transportation is not very practical. Manix Abrera a.k.a. the creator of Kikomachine Komix would be the workshop master and I can't help but feel bad about it because I'm a big fan of his work. Sigh.

But it won't stop me from doing more art because it's one of my "big" plans this summer hehe.

Also:

I downloaded their film! It was amazing and I literally cried while watching it because IT WAS GREAT. Especially when they played Girls Like You & Young Blood. I can't help my feelings huhu.

Also this! The lineup is itself screams awesome. I never thought they'd bring these bands here in Manila. The Temper Trap and Avalanche City? YES! Also Up Dharma Down ahh! Although I'm not really sure if I should go because of the ticket price. I think I just heard my heart shatter into a million pieces.

Fall Out Boy released their new album's cover art! I'm so excited to hear their new record. This band has a lot in store for us fans, I can tell. Can't wait for April 15!

It's summer already, so why don't you enjoy a sight of beautiful daisies dancing in the wind under the sun's rays.

Also fries.

BELIEVERS NEVER DIE 2013

I bet your insides are still screaming with delight. I bet you're hyped up. I bet you're psyched. I bet you're playing their songs on a loud volume. I bet you feel euphoric. If you're feeling all of the above, then CHEERS TO US. It is finally over. The wait is over. Those talks we had about the then rumor. Those nights we hardly sleep thinking about Beau Bokan's tweet last August of 2012. It was deemed to be a "hoax" and a disappointment to a lot of fans but let's talk about now.

A few months ago, we were in a very slow daze, confused and anxious. Where are they? What are their plans? Are they ever coming back? Will I ever hear them live? Is it really over?

Let's take it back to 2012. A few months ago. Imagine being in that place, hunched up in your chair, absolutely taken aback by what you're absent-mindedly doing. You were doing that damn homework. You have dinner plans. You went out to get some air. You rode the bus on the way home. Just little, simple things you do on a daily basis. Imagine being in that position without any idea that something is happening. Okay, okay, I'll be literal. You were doing some chores and running some errands and wow FALL OUT BOY IS CREATING SOMETHING. They're actually pulling out the strings off their minds AS A BAND! Can you believe that? The wonders of distance and The Great Inevitable. Do you feel it? Because I DO. Every. Time. I. Think. About. Them. Yes.

I, who still cannot believe it, and is very overwhelmed and unfocused, can finally say, that Fall Out Boy is BACK. After 3 years of waiting, looking around for some answers, getting lost to their music and looking back. They are finally back to Save Rock And Roll. They are back to save the world, save the lives of each and everyone of us. To save the kids who didn't make it.

This is for all of us. I cannot think of any other way to say this but I'm glad they're back. Psyched, even. Those days wherein I feel bad because listening to their songs only reminds me of their hiatus-those days are dead and gone. Those days are done for us.
