Take me anywhere

I know it's a bit too late for this but... We had our exposure trip last November 6! We went to The Philippine Star, College of Saint Benilde and Angelo King International Center (I'm not sure of the name but whatever hehe).

Diana was absent so I ended up being alone on the bus and with no one beside me. Aw. But that's okay, at least I could stretch my legs whenever I feel like sleeping or tranquilizing. We watched a movie on the way to our first stop, but I forgot the title of the movie. I actually just listened to music the whole trip because I wasn't really interested.

So going back to what I'm talking about here, our first stop was The Philippine Star and the place looks nice even though some parts of it have billowing cobwebs and cement cracks and all that. The place itself feels like a ragged piece of clothing.

We first entered this conference room for some briefing and a small talk about journalism. Then we had a small contest. I won a toiletry kit in an orange bag. Teehee.

Anyway our tour guide showed us around the place and it's kind of interesting to know where the morning paper comes from and what it has been through before reaching hands of the consumer. The whole place smells like ink, paper and carbon. I think I'm the only one who noticed this.

This awesome mac from the editor's office. It's still eMac!

And the iMac with the lighting I find really awesome.

We left this room and went straight to the room where they print the metal plates wherein they put the first print-outs of the pages. It's printed in a big-ass machine called the AGFA or the Polaris. It's really big I think it's gonna consume 95% of my room. IMAGINE THAT.

We left Philippine Star to head straight to Blue Wave for lunch. The original plan was to eat in KFC but there were too many people, we can't even squish ourselves in. Plus it's hot inside. So, nope. Then we tried Jollibee. Same atmosphere. We walked around Blue Wave for a long time to look for a decent place to have lunch. Then we found this place but we left immediately because we didn't find the food appetizing at all. I finally found refuge in Subway. I was too happy because I was starting to get so hungry and tired at the same time. Thank God I found Subway. Still thankful because Brice was with me the whole time and he lent me sixty pesos. Mehehe.

Then we left Blue Wave for CSB. I don't really know where CSB was in the first place, haha. I thought it was far away from La Salle but it turns out that it's just around the corner. The building looks AMAZING. There was this very intriguing bump in the middle of the building. Like a camel's hump.

We went inside and assembled in the lobby. At first sight I thought the place was an office lobby. With the fancy black couch in the middle and a podium at the far end of the room. I think it's really close to an office.

Anyway we rode the elevators (yes, they have elevators; which is cool) to go to our first stop. We were with our tour guide and we were all girls, except for Joshua. Nyaha. Our first stop was on this floor with a convention going on. Canon just held a free workshop for Canon camera owners. Wish I had a Canon camera. Wish I had more time...

The animating machine with big parts. This is the original vintage piece!!!

We entered the game development room and I was shocked. Look at the artists, their computers, the way they stroke their hands and the drawings! I kept on whispering, "This is where I belong" or "I have to excel more.." because this room is full of great minds and I'm just there.

Coolest thing I saw on the room.

We left the room and I found this. Of course I took a selfie because the mirror looks pretty and the lighting from the outside is a bonus.

My adviser being such a cutie with KC and Joshua plus me. HAHAHA

We reached this green room. It's very spacey I think you could host your own circus event inside. (Minus the acrobats and the jumping clowns from more than 30 feet above). Our tour said this is used for modeling or presentations purposes. I think they should use this for movie screenings every Friday night, with free popcorn and licorice sticks. Yup.

The room above the spacey room with lots of papers on the glass walls. Intriguing stuff right there.

Below you can see the artist drawing something. This is the animating room. But artists do it manually here. From drawings to final sketches to scans and editing and voila, a finished product; a 15-second animated cartoon.

I saw this girl working on something that looks like a table or a place for disembarkation. I'm not really sure but it looks like it. I liked what she was working on. Sorry for the blurry resolution, though.

This is the camera room. SDA students can borrow equipment here, anytime they want. Yes, I am jealous. They even have the most expensive lens worth half a million! Our guide said you could see SM Mall of Asia through the lens from the CSB campus! Cool beans.

And there was this room called the "Black Box" since everything inside it was painted in black. They use that room for theater and the arts. They said the room was in all black so you could see the effect better. They said during presentations, people look like they're floating in midair. I'd kill to see that effect!

Eighth floor was all about the fashion world. Most of my companions were fangirling everywhere since fashion for them was the most important thing. They were also talking about Dani Barretto since she studies here and there could be a possible sighting of her presence around the campus. Unfortunately not even a shadow of Dani appeared. Sad.

"Yo what's up?" asked Mannequin 1. "Oh you know, just walking around eighth floor naked. How 'bout you?" Mannequin 2 asked. He was feeling a bit uncomfortable with students looking at them.

Saw this outside the textile room. Awesome ballz.

The SDA library! On its right side is the lounge in which students can rest. I found some students who were sleeping instead of just "resting". Haha, genius.

The moment I saw these little cardboard things, I flinched and thought about John Green and RAPHAW. I remembered Q, the Song of Myself, Guthrie, the strip mall, Agloe, And the hours on the van. If you love reading John Green you'll get to the point immediately. Calling ALL NERDFIGHTERS! Let us weep tears of joy for I have found refuge in this diorama of cardboard boxes/brown paper.

(Nope, I am not going to spill this thing I am talking about!)

The music room was actual heaven for me, for it reminded me of every youtube video of very band recording. Mixers and microphones here and there. This drum set DEFINITELY reminded me of Pat Kirch.

The infamous machine from the industrial arts department.

We left CSB 2 hours later (or so). AKIC was our next stop; it's a different school but still under La Salle. We ate some snacks, even though I was still kind of full. But I ate, anyways. HAHA.

Anyway, we began our tour around the building and there were a lot of food everywhere. May it be dummy food or real food, it's still food. And it smelled like marshmallows/espresso coffee/chocolate everywhere. Yes, everywhere. I don't know if it's just me but it really smelled like sweets everywhere. I should go there more often. Kidding!

This is what I'm talking about. These are only dummies. It may not be real but it looks just as appetizing as it may be if it was real...

On the rooftop you could see the restaurant. They have a pool, a patio, a bar and all that. Feels like you're in a hotel.

The highlight of the trip was this view of the skyline. I never expected it to be this beautiful, especially with sun setting in front of me. The weather was perfect and of course I have to take a picture of it because it was a very amazing sight to see. Students here are too lucky to have this view everyday. They should be thankful to see this happen everyday.

The last photo was my favorite photo of all because of the gradient. The blues, the whites, the yellows and the oranges go together perfectly. It's very beautiful.

I had a lot of fun during the trip. I saw a lot of new things and I learned a lot. A few years from now I'd be in college, I'd be like those students. I don't want to sound cheesy here but college is a very big place. I realized that my choice would make a big change on me. Well I hope my choice would make me a better person (or an artist, to be particular. Joke).

Trading Places

My dad and I went to Ayala Museum last Saturday. We weren't really planning to go there but I guess it just hit us that we need to check the museum out. Of course photos aren't allowed. So don't expect me to have photos of Fernando Amorsolo's pieces.

Our first destination was the fourth floor with ancient porcelain pieces from a collector. There were lots of them, almost all in blue. There were pots, jars, plates, crucibles and some figures of men and women. I still don't know how they found those pieces. Excavations on certain places is the answer but HOW.

Okay so we went to this exhibit, Crossroads of Civilization. Gold pieces are showcased inside a special room. There was even a movie presentation about the found gold in the Philippine Archipelago. Even the floor is surrounded with little pieces of gold that look like earrings. The movie presentation was pretty good; it actually made me want to try gold panning so I could have lots of gold and money and fortune. Joking.

The whole room was full of gold, gold, gold and gold. Lots and lots of gold, I wonder how many concert tickets it could buy... So anyway, There were these little drawers tucked underneath every piece. Inside that drawer lies another set of gold. May it be ear ornaments, cuffs and neck ornaments, just to name a few. And the cool thing about that drawer is that it has its own magnifying glass attached to it. You can move it around the drawer so you could examine the whole thing and how beautifully the ornament it made. I think you don't get the picture. (I'm sorry but i'm really bad at documenting such things).

Then we went to the third floor. On it was Fernando Amorsolo's paintings. Ganito Kami Noon was the name for the exhibit and the whole room was filled with portraits of people and civilization like a family in front of a kubo on a Sunday and Dons in their fancy tuxedos  and Donas in their fancy dresses sitting on a chair. I wish I could take photos but it's prohibited to do so.

Palay Maiden by Fernando Amorsolo (1920)

(I forgot the title of this portrait) by Fernando Amorsolo

Those were the ones I saw at the exhibit plus Zobel's work of art. He's a good painter as well. And he's great at creating gradients!

Second floor was all about the Philippine history--from prehistoric to the EDSA Revolution. And the boat exhibit!!! It was my favorite of all. There were six vessels all in all, and the details look amazing. I wish I could take a picture, though. I'd love to go back some time for another trip!

I believe I still have to go to National Museum in Manila. I really, really, really NEED to see the Spoliarium in real life, even though the legitimate painting itself is in Madrid, Spain. I STILL NEED TO SEE IT.

By the way I bought a new shirt from Forever 21. It looks pretty nice, I mean with the polka dots and the color red. Hehehe.

AND NO I WON'T ROTATE THE PICTURE. I'M SORRY BUT YOU HAVE TO TILT YOUR HEAD SIDEWAYS IN ORDER TO GET A GOOD VIEW HAHAHA.

After the trip to Ayala Museum, Glorietta and Greenbelt my dad decided to go to CCP. On the way there, the streets of Makati looked beautiful with the Christmas lights hailing the boulevard. So we took a picture of it because it looks so pretty hihihi.

We went to CCP for certain reasons which I don't know; it was fun. It's really is beginning to look a lot like Christmas. The lanterns and the cold air. The Christmas-y feeling you get when you wake up in the morning in it's still dark outside. The spirit. Everything about Christmas is inviting.

Hope I could come back here reaaally soon!

With Pleasure

Well this week went by too fast. There were a lot of happenings and all that. And yes, this sembreak was a whole lot of fun but it's so... bitin. I know two weeks is good enough but god, I'd kill for another week of fun. But anyways, the happenings and all that.

All Soul's Day was spent in Manila Memorial Park with la familia. We stayed at my grandfather's grave. It has been a tradition of us to stay there until the break of dawn or so. I had fun because I was with my cousins and we ate a lot of food. Then I slept for the rest of the stay. It was so cold and the weather was just perfect, I couldn't help my drowsiness. So when I woke up it was already 12 am or so and my dad was already there. I had a talk with my aunts and Kuya JC about college and I don't know how to feel about the future. I'm not sure what I'm gonna do in the next two years. But all is well. All is well now.

Then I drank a lot of coffee because I was feeling cold. We left at around 3:30 am. My dad and I planned on going to Army Navy. (Yup, they have one of those food stands inside the cemetery and God bless that place for having Army Navy.) But we didn't actually go because  it's too late and we need some rest.

So the next day was spent on the cinemas. We watched Skyfall, another James Bond movie. Agent 007 is back. The movie was great! The intro looked lovely and the special effects doesn't even look like special effects in general. It actually feels like an old movie with a modern feel. Plus Adele's heavenly voice singing in the background with James Bond floating around. That's something.

And then the rest of  the movie went by and all I can think about is that British people are way better than anyone else. They may have lost the American Revolutionary Wars but all of that paid off in the present time. HAHAHA. Look around you. Girls prefer British boys than American boys. People think having a British accent is sexy. Wearing the British flag as a shirt is the new fashion statement of many. And yup, I'm not being racist here I'm just showing my admiration for British people, especially Daniel Craig. He looks so fine and handsome and AHH. Okay.

So along with Daniel Craig and the rest of the cast, Judi Dench did a great job on being this badass boss with class. And all I ever want to say is that Skyfall gave me the feels and I want to watch it again. I want to watch it as many times a day as possible because THE FEELS. MASSIVE FEELS. I hope you understand.

And like my dad promised, we went to Army Navy. Tasty fries are tasty. And yes, we can't stop talking about 007 because it was a very great movie. And also, we ran into Tessa Prieto-Valdez. You know, the famed woman who loves wearing big hats and big dresses. And yes she was wearing a pink hat with lots of ribbons.

Then we went home and I can't stop fangirling about Daniel Craig. Too bad I'm not Rachel Weisz.

I can't wait to be cast as Bond's next girl. (AS IF)

(November 3, 2012)

Yesterday was so lazy. My dad and I spent our day in my lola's house and watched a lot of TV. We actually bought food so we could have something to chew or.... something. Anyways, we watched a movie on HBO. It was Ghost with Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze.  I personally loved the movie and it's not one of those sappy romance movies, It was different. And with Unchained Melody as the soundtrack, I think you'll get the point I'm trying to point out here. Hehe.

Demi Moore looks so beautiful okay, even with the short hair.

By the way, today is Sunday and in less than 24 hours, school will start again and I cannot believe it. I don't want to go back to school and deal with all the Performance Tasks. Sigh, sigh, SIGH. But at least Exposure Trip on Tuesday. Trying real hard to love life right now.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Anyway, we lost a very important person in the music industry last November 1, 2012. Mitch Lucker, frontman of the metal band Suicide Silence, died in a motorcycle accident. I was a never a fan of their band but Mitch was a great person. Fans of Suicide Silence are in deep mourning for their hero died. Mitch left 5-year-old daughter, Kenadee Isis, and a wife. I'm not a fan of their music but when a musician dies, it's a lot more different. It's like a part of their soul was left here on Earth and the music goes louder and louder.

Suicide Silene fans, hold on and be strong for Mitch.

R.I.P. Mitch Lucker. 1984-2012. My heart goes out to his family, friends and fans.
